July 2007

Besides a bomb scare that evacuated the building, the premiere of Countess Bathoria's Graveyard Picture Show at the Fantasia Film Fest went perfectly. It was a little unnerving when you are watching the debut of your film and they shut down the projector and order the audience to evacuate immediately. But hundreds of avid horror fans waited outside the movie theatre for the bomb scare to end in order to watch the GYPS. The audience reaction to the film was incredible and we are all proud to have been involved in this project. This marks the first time the Fantasia Film Fest has ever been shut down due to a bomb scare. However, just like in Iraq, there were no bombs to be found.

What was most incredible was that the audience waited patiently outside the theatre while they swept the building, not even knowing if the building would open up and screen the film. But when the doors opened back up after half an hour 95% of the horror fans swarmed back into the theatre making this night a total success.

There was one minor problem with the premiere of the film, there seemed to be a conflict due to equipment incompatibility. About 3 to 5 minutes of the film skipped. Considering it is well over two hours that's not too bad.

We tried keeping count of people who walked out in disgust after the first few twisted moments of the film but we eventually lost track. They were always easy to spot, their faces pale, their hands over their mouths trying to hold in the vomit, the tears from the psychic trauma inflicted by the GYPS.
